We investigate organised animal cruelty, and give the animals we rescue somewhere safe to land.
Animal Welfare Investigations Project was founded in 2021. We investigate organised animal crime, work to bring those responsible to justice, and care for the animals taken out of it, until each one is ready for a home of their own.
This site is where that last part happens. Every animal listed here came out of one of our cases.

What we investigate
Animal fighting
Dog fighting, cockfighting and badger baiting have been outlawed for many years, and still carry on. We investigate these networks to identify those involved.
Wildlife crime
Crimes against badgers, foxes and other wildlife are rising. We investigate badger persecution, badger baiting, illegal hunting and bird trapping.

We investigate
We gather information from the public, partner organisations and online sources, then turn it into actionable intelligence used to disrupt criminal activity.

We seek justice for every animal that has suffered, pushing to make sure those responsible face real consequences.

We protect
Where an investigation finds animals in immediate danger, we coordinate with the police and other organisations to get them out. Every animal then receives veterinary treatment, rehabilitation and the time they need to recover.
What happens to a rescued animal
Animals arrive from cases where they have often had no veterinary care at all. Each one is checked over by a vet, vaccinated, microchipped, neutered where appropriate, and treated for anything we find. Many need time in a foster home to learn what an ordinary house sounds like before they are ready to be rehomed.
Only when an animal is genuinely ready do we list them here. We match adopters and fosterers to animals ourselves, rather than first come first served, because the right home matters more than a quick one.
Our investigations are funded entirely by supporters
We receive no government funding. Investigations, rescues and the veterinary care every animal on this site has already had are paid for by people who believe in justice for animals.
